I have been blessed with lots of great reviews since The No Kiss Contract came out two-ish weeks ago. Many readers have seen the first line in my author bio (on the page right after the story ends) where I invite readers to read a little more of Davy and Anna’s story in an epilogue that you can download from my website (link in bio).
So why did I do this instead of just putting it right after the last chapter—where an epilogue is supposed to go? A couple of reasons:
When I submitted my final edits, I honestly felt that all my characters had completed their emotional arcs. I won’t go into details for those who haven’t read it yet, but I was satisfied that everyone in The No Kiss Contract had earned their happily-ever-after. But as the months went by, I wondered if readers might want just a little more. The premise implies a certain event will take place, but it hasn’t by the end of the story. An epilogue would be the perfect place to add this development in my characters’ lives.
Then a thought occurred to me. I’m a brand new author trying to establish an readership. Maybe I could use an epilogue to help me grow my audience. I have this cool new website—maybe an epilogue would drive a few people to it to learn a little more about me and my work. If they wanted, they could sign up for my newsletter and stay up to date on all the Nan Campbell book news! (This is NOT required. You can get the epilogue without signing up for my newsletter. It is hosted by Book Funnel, which requires an email address, but if you’re not a fan of newsletters, you will never hear from me.)
I’m happy to say that many people have downloaded the epilogue, and I’ve gained a few subscribers! If you want to read the epilogue and you really don’t want to share your email address, DM me and we’ll figure out a way to get it to you.
TL;DR—My new book has an epilogue! Check the link in bio Go here if you want to read it!
